Your Friends Don’t Want to Help You Move (Seriously)

There are a lot of ways people try to save money. It’s understandable. Living in Chicago can be expensive and sometimes when you are getting ready to move, there are so many costs associated with it that you try to scrimp by not hiring Chicago Movers. You figure your friends will be willing to help, and that’s probably true – but is it really fair to them?

In college, moving was kind of fun. Sure it was a pain, but it was a social occasion. Be honest, you didn’t really have that much to move in college, not compared to now. And when you’re a poor college kid, the idea of a free pizza dinner for a day’s work is a good deal. Plus, what else did you have going on? You were young, healthy, strong, and had scads of free time – eight hours of physical labor was no problem.

But for grown ups it is different. Sure, we will never turn down a friend in need, but there are times we dread helping someone. You have a job, maybe a family – lots of conflicting priorities. A Saturday or Sunday is the only time you can take for yourself, and giving a whole day to someone else is not a treasure. Especially when it means potentially throwing out your back.

For adults, the prospect of a pizza dinner is not that tantalizing. We can have that anytime. What we can’t have is our free time back, or our health. So stop asking your friends to help you move your stuff and just hire some professional Chicago Movers.
